Love Is in the Air

Will you marry me? The question has been asked countless times here at Turning Stone Resort Casino, and Rebecca Geisler has been lucky enough to play a small role in several of those proposals.

Rebecca is one of the concierges at The Lodge at Turning Stone, and over the years some guests have leaned on her to make popping the question a little easier. Yes, the tasks are daunting. But Rebecca said she relishes the opportunity to put her own stamp on a moment her guests will remember forever.

“It’s special to be a part of their big days,” she said. “Honestly, it’s one of my favorite parts of this job.”

The first time Rebecca was called into action to assist on a proposal, a man asked her to arrange for colleagues to photograph the big event. When it was time to roll, Rebecca led the man and his soon-to-be fiancé on a tour of The Lodge and took them to the Great Lawn. There, she slinked away as the man knelt and whipped out the ring. The photographer captured everything.

Later that night, Rebecca arranged for a limo to pick them up at The Lodge and take them over to TS Steakhouse—a drive of fewer than five minutes.

The same couple came back and got married on the Great Lawn at The Lodge a year later.

“Clearly this couple remembered that special day—that meant a lot to me,” she said. “When they came back, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, you came back!’ It was pretty neat that they wanted to celebrate their wedding in the same spot where we made their proposal happen.”

On other occasions, Rebecca has organized invitations for entire families and kept family members hidden in the Great Room until the lovebirds come downstairs.

In 2021, for instance, she helped a man invite 30 or 40 people to the resort for a proposal celebration, then worked with other Lodge employees to keep everyone out of sight until the engagement was official. After the couple ate dinner (again, at TS Steakhouse), the entire group went out to the nightlife venues at Exit 33 to celebrate.

Rebecca is quick to note that she isn’t the only one working wonders at proposal time; she collaborates with contacts in housekeeping, food and beverage, gaming, and other departments, as well.

“Everybody here works together to make our guests’ dreams come true,” she said.
