Tailoring a New Era of Menswear at Turning Stone

Men at Turning Stone Resort Casino are about to look a lot sharper, as a popular Syracuse men’s store is gearing up to open an outpost on-site. The store, dubbed Mr. Shop at Turning Stone, is scheduled to debut October 1 between The Parlor and the TS Rewards Desk, around the corner from The Commons at Turning Stone.

According to proprietor Joel Shapiro, Mr. Shop at Turning Stone will feature custom suits and tailored sportswear from popular national brands such as Eton, Paige, Tommy Bahama, and Johnston & Murphy, as well as a diverse selection of menswear accessories including watches, belts, ties, and jewelry.

The 1,600-square-foot store will be Shapiro’s second Mr. Shop in Upstate New York, as the original location has existed in downtown Syracuse for more than 30 years (50 years in total).

“Opening Mr. Shop in a world-renowned destination resort like Turning Stone will introduce our collection of menswear to millions of guests who visit from all around the country,” Shapiro said. “For years, guests have asked for a store that sells menswear, and we’re finally now delivering on that promise.”

In addition to selling menswear and accessories of all kinds, the new Mr. Shop also will rent tuxedos and suits for men who are participating in weddings or other events. This is a new service for Shapiro, as he does not offer it at his shop in Syracuse.

Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter said he is extremely excited about the new retail outlet.

“For nearly three decades, the Oneida Indian Nation has been investing in Central New York and partnering with local businesses. We have always believed that the talent and resources we need to be successful and expand our offerings are right here in Upstate New York,” Halbritter said. “You don’t have the longevity of Mr. Shop and its 50 years of success without providing exceptional guest service.”

Shapiro is no stranger to Turning Stone and the Oneida Indian Nation; he is the owner and operator of The Commons at Turning Stone and YBR Supply Co. at YBR Casino & Sports Book in Chittenango.
