Turning Stone Recreation Royalty, Miles Blundell

Director of Golf and Recreation, Miles Blundell is responsible for just about everything at Oneida Nation Enterprises, including Turning Stone Resort Casino, that involves outdoor fun—and a few things that involve indoor fun, too.

The list includes three acclaimed award-winning championship golf courses, two outstanding nine-hole courses, unrivaled indoor golf facilities, two marinas, a salmon fishing preserve, a hunting preserve, and more. Miles is also assuming management duties of The Cove at Sylvan Beach.

“One of the many things I enjoy about working here is that we’re always working on something new,” Miles said. “Thankfully I’ve got great colleagues to work with who help ensure everything runs smoothly.”

Miles was promoted to his current role in 2018, and he has added many of his non-golf responsibilities since then. Before that, he served as director of golf operations for nearly five years. He also held the position of head golf pro—a role for which he was hired originally in 2009 and held until spring of 2012.

At one point during his tenure with Turning Stone, Miles took a year off to work in golf leadership roles in two different golf courses in Michigan. Before Turning Stone, Miles worked as a golf pro and in golf operations at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania.

According to Miles, the development of The Cove is the first time he’s ever built a new vacation destination from the ground up. It’s an experience he doesn’t take lightly.

“I’ve managed some exciting things over the years, but never anything this size or scope,” he said. “I’m learning new things every day, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to show guests this special place we’re creating on the shores of Oneida Lake.”

Predictably, when Miles isn’t working, he loves to golf, and tries to get out there whenever he can.

“You don’t spend 20-plus years in the golf industry if you don’t love golf,” he said. “There’s no place I’d rather be.”
