How to Play Let-It-Ride Poker: Rules & Payouts
==================================================

Let-It-Ride is a poker-style table game based on five-card hands. The player is paid against a posted pay table, not by beating the dealer or other players.

The player starts with three equal wagers on the table and has two chances to take a wager back as shared community cards are revealed. This guide will cover the game's objective, playing sequence, rules, standard winning-hand pay table and bonuses, so you can play Let-It-Ride with confidence.

What Is Let-It-Ride Poker?
--------------------------

Let-It-Ride uses the same hand rankings found in five-card poker, yet this game is structurally different from a typical poker game. There is no pot, bluffing, betting against other players or a dealer hand. The player's hand is paid according to the posted pay table.

This game appeals to beginners and casual players. Each person is concerned only with their own hand, and the two take-back decisions give the player control over how much of their wager remains in action. This takes the stress out of trying to guess what cards other players at the table have.

Let-It-Ride is not to be confused with [Texas Hold'em](https://www.turningstone.com/press/articles/gaming/how-to-play--bet-texas-hold-em-poker-basic-rules), where players are choosing a best five-card hand from seven cards. The player in Let-It-Ride finishes with exactly five cards – the three cards dealt to them and then two community cards.

### What Does “Let It Ride” Mean?

To "let it ride" means leaving the designated wager on the table so it remains active for the completed hand. It does not require the player to leave every wager in action, as the first and second bets are separate decisions.

What Is the Objective of Let-It-Ride Poker?
-------------------------------------------

The objective of Let-It-Ride is to use three private cards and two community cards to make a five-card hand that qualifies according to the pay table.

At Turning Stone, a pair of 10s or better is the minimum winning hand. At most tables, a pair of 9s or worse results in a losing wager. Stronger hands receive progressively higher payouts.

The payout applies to each base wager still on the table after the two player decisions. A player can therefore finish their hand with one, two or three base wagers still in action.

How Do You Play Let-It-Ride Poker? Step by Step
-----------------------------------------------

### Step 1: Place Three Equal Wagers

The table has three base-wager positions on it: 1, 2 and $. The player must place the same wagering amount in each position before the cards are dealt.

### Step 2: Receive Three Private Cards

The dealer then gives each player at the table three face-down cards. The players can look at their own cards but should follow the dealer's instructions about revealing them. The dealer also places two community cards face down that are part of each player's hand.

### Step 3: Make the First Decision

After looking at their three cards, the player has to decide whether to take back the wager in the first position, or leave that wager in action and "let it ride." This decision does not affect the other two base wagers.

### Step 4: Reveal the First Community Card

Then, the dealer turns over the first community card. Each player at the table now has a four-card hand made up of their three private cards, plus that shared card.

### Step 5: Make the Second Decision

Now that the player can see one of the community cards, they can choose to take back their second-position wager, or let it ride. Again, this decision is separate from whatever decision is made for the other two base wagers.

### Step 6: Reveal the Second Community Card

The dealer then reveals the final community card, completing every player’s five-card hand. The money ($) wager is the third base wager and cannot be taken back.

### Step 7: Evaluate & Pay the Hand

The dealer evaluates every player's five-card hand and pays every remaining base wager according to the posted pay table. Nonqualifying hands lose the base wagers that remain in action.

RuleRule Description Three equal base wagers The 1, 2 and $ positions begin with equal amounts. Five-card final hand The player uses all three private cards and two community cards. First take-back decision Bet 1 may be taken back before the first community card is exposed. Second take-back decision Bet 2 may be taken back after the first community card is exposed. Third wager remains The $ wager cannot be withdrawn. No dealer hand The player’s hand is paid according to a pay table. Qualifying result The standard minimum winning hand is a pair of 10s or better. Remaining wagers are paid separately The final hand’s payout is applied to each base wager still in action. Side wagers are separate Bonus wagers are optional and have their own conditions and pay tables. Posted rules Pay schedules, minimums, maximums and bonus availability can vary. When Should You Let-It-Ride? Beginner Strategy
----------------------------------------------

Before going over beginner strategy, remember that no strategy can determine which cards will be dealt. A strategy only helps a player decide whether leaving an optional wager in action is justified based on the known cards.

### The First Decision — Three Known Cards

Beginners generally consider letting their first wager ride when they already have a qualifying hand or a particularly strong draw toward a high-value hand, such as a royal flush or a straight-flush draw.

### The Second Decision — Four Known Cards

A made qualifying hand is a good reason to let the second wager ride.
