Dwight Yoakam is a pioneering American singer-songwriter and actor known for his distinctive blend of country, rock, hillbilly, and bluegrass. With over 26 million albums sold worldwide, 21 Grammy nominations, and multiple wins, he has remained a powerful force in music since his 1986 debut. Born in Kentucky, raised in Ohio, and musically shaped in California, Yoakam helped redefine the West Coast country sound.

His 21st studio album, Brighter Days (2024), captures a joyful and reflective chapter in his life, marked by his marriage to Emily Joyce and the birth of their son, Dalton, during the pandemic. The album, recorded across six studios between 2021 and 2024, includes collaborations with longtime bandmates and artists like Post Malone. Tracks like “I Don’t Know How to Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom)” highlight Yoakam’s creative energy and genre-crossing appeal

An influential figure in Americana, Yoakam also curates the Bakersfield Beat channel on Sirius/XM, which has inspired recent songwriting collaborations with Jeffrey Steele, Bob DePiero, and Shane Minor. In recognition of his enduring contributions, Yoakam will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards.
