The Upstate Tavern Classic New York Bar and Grill

The Upstate Tavern is everything people love about a casual American bar and grill plus so much more. This large restaurant and bar does its namesake proud, boasting locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and New York’s best-known and up-and-coming breweries and vineyards. On the menu, you’ll find American classics with a signature New York twist like the Binghamton Spiedie sandwiches, Chicken Riggies, Homestyle Mac & Cheese with an aged Central New York white cheddar sauce and more.

Centrally located between Syracuse and Utica just inside Turning Stone, New York’s most awarded resort, this lively bar and grill is also a great place to watch the game on more than a dozen TVs. With plenty of seating area spread out across the restaurant, it’s also ideal for groups or gatherings before live concerts, boxing and entertainment at Turning Stone. For some great specials, join us for happy hour Sunday through Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00 (bar only) or for our Night Owl Menu from 10:45 – close.

Whether you’re looking for a quick bite at the bar, settling in to watch the game or meeting up with friends before a live concert, The Upstate Tavern in Central New York is the place to be. Wings, Buffalo flatbread and spinach dip with fry bread chips all take on a New York accent on flavors.

While you’ll find tavern classics like our 8 oz burgers, loaded club sandwich and shaved ribeye cheesesteak, try our upstate takes on house specialties like our Shaved Beef on Weck with our house-made Kimmelweck roll. For heartier appetites, our riggies are always a crowd pleaser with chicken, rigatoni, vodka sauce, cherry and banana peppers and torn basil. Meatloaf with a BBQ glaze and beef gravy, hearty Mac and Cheese with CNY white cheddar and a grilled NY Strip are among other fan favorites.

If you ever wanted to work your way around an entire menu, our Boozy Milkshakes might be the one you can’t resist. This is where our mixologists seem to be showing off – until you taste their creations then wow, here come the flavors.

While boozy milkshakes have become a lot more artful in their presentations, their origin dates back to 1885, the year before German engineer Karl Benz filed a patent for the first automobile. What became a soda fountain favorite by the early 1900s was first mentioned in print as an adult drink containing eggs and whiskey. In 1911, Hamilton Beach invented an electric mixer, and milkshakes took off. Today these classic comfort drinks with a kick have made a comeback, and at The Upstate Tavern, the presentation is as whimsical and imaginative as the flavors. Whether you call it a drink or dessert, our menu is full of favorites.

The Upstate Tavern Location

The Upstate Tavern is located at New York’s most awarded resort, Turning Stone Resort Casino. One of more than 20 restaurants on property, you’ll find one of Central New York’s favorite American restaurants about 35 minutes east of Syracuse, 25 minutes west of Utica and 15 minutes southwest of Rome. Valet parking is available at The Tower at Turning Stone, The Hotel at Turning Stone and The Lodge at Turning Stone, along with plenty of free parking at a four-level parking garage next to The Event Center.

About the Chef

Chef Yolanda Lee

Chef Yolanda has always had a love for cooking, she cooked for family and friends during college and graduate school. She's a former meteorologist, with a masters degree in meteorology, turned classically trained chef with over 10 years of experience in the business. She has a passion for combing cultural cuisines with popular comfort foods and enjoys pairing food and various beverages.

Yolanda appreciates and encourages creativity from everyone! She embrasses the social atmosphere that is the culinary world. She says, cooking is family and food is life!
